Convert WOFF2 to TTF

Free and private: your WOFF2 files are converted on your own device and never uploaded.

or drop files here · processed on your device, never uploaded

Web fonts are delivered as WOFF2, which operating systems and most design apps cannot install. ConvertCove unpacks the WOFF2 back into a regular font file so you can use it in Figma, Word or a mock-up, provided your licence allows it.

How to convert WOFF2 to TTF

    1. Click Select WOFF2 files or drag them onto the box above. You can add as many as you like.
    2. Check that the target says TTF. Click the slider icon next to a file to change its options.
    3. Press Convert. Each file shows its own progress, and the work happens on your device.
    4. Download files one by one, or use Download all (ZIP). Press Convert more to start a new batch.

Fonts downloaded from Google Fonts are under the SIL Open Font License or Apache License and may be installed and converted. Fonts from commercial foundries usually may not.

    WOFF2 vs TTF

    What is WOFF2?

WOFF2 is a compressed wrapper around a TrueType or OpenType font, designed only for delivery to browsers. Inside is a complete font, stored with Brotli compression and transformed glyph tables. More about the WOFF2 format.

    What is TTF?

TTF and OTF are installable desktop formats. Windows, macOS and Linux all install them with a double-click, and every design and office application can use them. More about the TTF format.

When to convert WOFF2 to TTF

    • You own or licensed a font but only have the web files.
    • You are designing mock-ups and need the same open-source font your website uses.
    • You want to inspect a font in a font editor such as FontForge or Glyphs.
    • You need a TTF to embed in a mobile app or game.

    Quality and settings

Unpacking restores the font tables exactly, so glyphs, kerning, ligatures and hinting are unchanged. The file extension follows the outlines inside the font: TrueType outlines give .ttf, CFF (PostScript) outlines give .otf. ConvertCove never rewrites outlines to fake a format change; it tells you when a font you asked for as TTF is really an OTF. Both install the same way.

    Frequently asked questions

Why did I get an .otf when I chose TTF?

The font has CFF (PostScript) outlines, which belong in an OpenType .otf file. Converting the outlines would alter the design, so the original outlines are kept.

    Is this legal?

Converting is legal for fonts you are licensed to use that way, such as open-source fonts. Many commercial web-font licences forbid desktop use, so check the licence.

Does it work with WOFF (version 1) too?

Yes. WOFF files are decompressed the same way, and you can also convert WOFF to WOFF2.

Will the font install on Windows and Mac?

Yes. The output is a standard SFNT font file that both systems install by double-clicking.
