    What is an OTF file?

    OpenType was created by Microsoft and Adobe in 1996 and is standardised as ISO/IEC 14496-22 (Open Font Format). An .otf file normally contains CFF (PostScript, cubic) outlines, while OpenType fonts with TrueType outlines usually use .ttf.

    OTF supports advanced typography such as ligatures, stylistic sets and small caps. Converting to WOFF or WOFF2 keeps all of that.
