What is a MKV file?
Matroska (.mkv) is an open container that can hold practically any video and audio codec, any number of audio tracks, subtitle tracks, chapters and attachments. It is popular for film rips, anime releases and recordings from OBS, because a crash never corrupts the whole file.
Many TVs, phones and editors refuse MKV even when the video inside is ordinary H.264. Converting to MP4 fixes that; ConvertCove converts the main video and the first audio track.
